The Bijoy Mela, hosted on December 9th at the Cedar Hill Rec Center, was an event to remember. From 6 pm to 9 pm, our community gathered to exchange greetings and celebrate together. The evening was not just a festive gathering but also a moment to reflect on our achievements, as we published our annual report (AGM) amidst the celebrations.
One of the highlights of the evening was the array of delectable Bangladeshi cuisine. The event offered an opportunity to savor authentic dishes such as chicken biryani, beef tehari, kacchi, chicken roll/pakora, potato chop, singara, chatpati, various pithas, misti, and bharta. With prices ranging from $1 to $10, there was something for everyone’s taste and budget. Attendees were reminded to bring enough change, both for buying these delicious offerings and for those selling the food and desserts.
In a generous gesture, the association provided free tables and drinking water for those who came to sell food. This year’s event was graced by the presence of MLA Mr. Ravi Parmar, highlighting the significance of the celebration in our community.
The evening also served as an occasion to acknowledge the hard work of our volunteers with certificates. Additionally, the event was a platform for fundraising for Bengali schools and discussing the future plans of the BCCAV Board.
The best part? There was no entry fee for this event. Everyone had the opportunity to enjoy the food and participate in the festivities as they wished. The Bijoy Mela was more than just a celebration; it was a testament to the strength and unity of our community. We look forward to more such events that bring us together and allow us to showcase our rich culture and heritage.
